Weather Alerts & Announcements for Fairs
When the sky turns, the people on your grounds should know first, without anyone on your team having to remember to tell them.
Severe-Weather Alerts, Automatically
Outdoor fairs live with the weather. During your fair, Yubigo checks the National Weather Service every few minutes for active alerts at your fairground’s location. When a qualifying alert is issued, it appears full-screen on the phones of fairgoers using your fair app on the grounds:
- Emergency alerts, such as tornado warnings and other extreme threats, tell visitors to seek shelter.
- Warnings (severe thunderstorm, flash flood, extreme heat, high wind and similar) let visitors decide whether to head for cover or wait it out.
Nobody on your staff has to send them. Name a weather shelter ahead of time and emergency-level alerts include a button that gives visitors walking directions to the shelter on your fairgrounds map.
Forecasts for Planning a Visit
Before they arrive, fairgoers see each fair day’s forecast (high and low, conditions and chance of rain) right next to that day’s schedule in Plan Your Visit. It’s the question every family asks before choosing a day; now your fair app answers it.
Announcements From Your Team
Some news only you have: a show moved to another ring, a lost child reunited, parking full at the north lot. Staff write a short announcement in the Portal and it shows up as a notification on visitors’ phones. There’s no phone number or sign-up: visitors tap Enable once when the fair app offers event updates. On iPhone, the app first walks them through adding it to their Home Screen.
Visitors can also request help from the app when your fair turns it on: the request reaches your emergency contact by text, with the visitor’s location when they share it, and appears in an incident list your team works through in the Portal.
Weather in Your Reports
Weather explains attendance. Your event dashboard shows current conditions, the forecast and recent history, and the post-event report records each day’s weather alongside your visitor numbers, so a slow Tuesday reads as “it rained” instead of a mystery.
Part of the Whole Fair App
Alerts sit alongside the interactive map, the fair schedule and vendor search in one county fair app that opens from a QR code, with no download and nothing to install.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do fairgoers get weather alerts at the fair?
Automatically. During the fair, Yubigo checks the National Weather Service every few minutes for active alerts at your fairgrounds. When a qualifying alert is issued, such as a tornado, severe thunderstorm, flash flood, extreme heat or high wind warning, it appears full-screen on the phones of visitors using the fair app on the grounds.
Does our staff have to send weather alerts?
No. Severe-weather alerts come straight from the National Weather Service for your fairground’s location. Your team can name a weather shelter in advance, and emergency-level alerts then include a button that gives visitors walking directions to it.
Can we send our own announcements to fairgoers?
Yes. Staff write a short announcement in the Portal (a schedule change, a lost item, a parking update) and it shows up as a notification on visitors’ phones. There’s no phone number or sign-up: visitors tap Enable once when the fair app offers event updates (on iPhone, after adding the app to their Home Screen; the app walks them through it).
Do fairgoers see the forecast before they come?
Yes. The Plan Your Visit view shows each fair day’s forecast: high and low, conditions and chance of rain.
Does weather show up in our reports?
Yes. Your event dashboard shows current conditions, the forecast and history from NOAA/National Weather Service data, and the post-event report includes weather for each day, useful context when attendance dips on a rainy afternoon.
